Node.js Backend Engineer (71056)

Budapest / Full-time

Important: Fluency in Hungarian and EU citizenship or a valid work permit are mandatory for this position.

 

We are looking for a Backend Engineer skilled in Node.js to join our client’s fast-moving, innovative development team.

As a Backend Engineer you will play a key role in building a new backend from scratch, designing clean RESTful APIs, and delivering scalable, maintainable, and well-architected solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust backend services using Node.js and NestJS.
• Build and document clean RESTful APIs for mobile and web clients.
• Implement data models and business logic using Prisma and relational databases.
• Contribute to architecture, scalability, and performance discussions.
• Work with Docker for containerization and local development environments.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following best practices.

 

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrable experience in and REST API development and design
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript
• Solid understanding of NestJS, Prisma ORM
• Familiarity with Docker, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience building backend systems from the ground up
• Interest in AI-assisted development tools is a plus
• Intermediate English: able to read documentation and technical specifications in English, team communication and meetings are in Hungarian

 

Others:

• Openness to work on contract basis is an advantage (not exclusively required)
• Once a week office presence is required in the Budapest or Szeged office
