OMV: Migration from Legacy Tool

ServiceNow SPM Case Study - Achieve the desired outcomes through a unified platform for strategizing, aligning, and delivering results.

Business

Capture is the partner of OMV – Central Eastern Europe’s most significant integrated oil, gas, and petrochemical company –  in providing a solution for its Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) activities. The cooperation started with transferring the integration and data from the previous legacy solution to the ServiceNow.

Challenge

OMV is a significant player in a fast-changing market environment. Environmental issues and tightening regulatory constraints disrupt business continuity.

The organization has restructured its business units (adding carbon capture and storage and geothermal energy), recently acquired Borealis, and invested in R&I to stay competitive.

Many strategic initiatives and programs have been started to handle these changes, which have to be managed holistically, connecting high-level strategy with day-to-day operations. OMV was looking for an instant solution that could provide the platform to support these changes seamlessly.

Solution

OMV already had experience with the ServiceNow platform; therefore, utilizing SPM was the adequate choice for addressing the challenges.

As a long-standing and trustful implementation partner for OMV, Capture won the opportunity to migrate functionality and data from the previously used legacy solution.

After the successful migration, Capture was chosen to be  the partner for constantly improving the SPM solution by including business and strategic projects in addition to IT initiatives and developing the integration of SPM with OMV‘s other core platforms (SAP and Microsoft)

Benefit

OMV can master all of its multiple challenges in this dynamic environment by using standardized project management processes and efficient project execution for its strategic ambitions and exploiting the synergies with other platforms.

OMV uses the ServiceNow SPM solution for its Group level Portfolio Management, the Energy Fuels and feedstock business units.
